For nearly eight years, Richard has served as your Second District representative on the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors. With his proven track record of accomplishments, he deserves our support for re-election this November 2.

His experience as a local business owner/employer for the past 24 years coupled with 17 years of service as a local elected official gives him a unique perspective. Richard understands the many issues confronting Mendocino County - and in particular the Second District.

Richard's actions on the Board are guided by his ability to hear all sides of an issue, to be accessible to the public, and to work with staff and with other elected officials.

Following is a list of recent accomplishments where Richard played a key role:

Establishing the Mendocino County Firesafe Council.
Securing land for the Ukiah Skateboard Park.
Co-chairing the successful campaign to prevent the state's closure of the CDF's Ukiah Air Attack Base.
Promoting the location of the Grace Hudson School in south Ukiah and starting the construction of the Ukiah Valley Cultural and Recreation Center on the school campus.
Collaborating with the Sheriff's Department and South Ukiah neighbors to establish a Neighborhood Watch program.
Consolidating a wide array of public health services by re-using the empty hospital site on Dora Street.
Revamping the County Water Agency by hiring a new director, providing additional funding and direction to assure a stable water supply.

With Richard's experience and knowledge, he will be invaluable to finding solutions for the important issues facing our county, such as:

Promoting business development that brings outside dollars to our community and better wages to our citizens.
Negotiating tax-sharing agreements with the cities in Mendocino County to promote orderly development that reduces land use decision-making based soley on sales tax dollars.
Gaining final approval of the Ukiah Valley Area Plan, which will guide growth in the Ukiah area for years to come.
Tackling housing affordability issues by ensuring adequate infrastructure and appropriately zoned land for housing and by supporting the production of workforce housing in our community.
Continuing to work with the local water districts, Sonoma County, and the state and federal resource agencies to ensure stable water supplies for our communities.
Planning for the upgrade of facilities at Low Gap Park using State Park Bond revenues.
Providing street improvements to State Street and Dora Street to increase public safety, including the installation of sidewalks, bike lanes and better street lighting.
Developing a "Fire Safety Plan" for Mendocino County to protect us from disasters like those recently occuring in Southern California and previously in the Oakland Hills>
Working to re-organize county government to find new effeciencies.
Keeping local tax dollars for local concerns.

At a time when Mendocino's County government will be going through some major changes - a new County Adminstrator will be coming on board, and some department heads will be retiring - Richard's background, experience and perspective is needed on the Board of Supervisors.
